But it also helps patients lose weight, Hussain said, and may gain the FDA’s approval to be prescribed for that purpose, too. In the future, Hussain believes, drugs will target the metabolism instead of the brain. His own work is focused on finding the key to rev up the body’s metabolism. “It’s a long way to go,” he said.
